Rep. Fleischmann Battles with Democrats over Wall Funding, Disinfo Board

A U.S. Congressman from Tennessee battled with Democrats on the fiscal year 2023 budget in an attempt to stop them from misdirecting funds appropriated for border wall construction, and to stop them from pursuing their “disinformation governance board.”

“Representative Fleischmann believes that both President Biden and [Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro] Mayorkas cannot be trusted not to try to restart any version of the disinformation board, which is why he offered an amendment to ban any funds in the fiscal year 2023 funding bill from establishing a disinformation board at DHS,” Justin Doil, the communications director for Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN-03), told The Tennessee Star.

“The congressman thinks all Tennesseans and Americans, regardless of political party, should be very concerned that Democrats in Congress and the White House want to try to police and censor peoples’ speech,” Doil said.. “He is adamant that our First Amendment rights give us the right to speak freely, and the federal government has no place to decide what is and is not disinformation.”

Fleischmann is the Ranking Member of the Homeland Security Subcommittee.

Doil said that the congressman’s office has not heard anything specific about restarting the disinformation governance board, which was quickly shuttered after the far-left bias of its appointed leader, Nina Jancowicz, was exposed by conservative activists.

In a press release, Fleischmann addressed the crisis at the southern border, and why he attempted to stop Democrats from using funds that were allocated for a border wall to instead be used for left-wing initiatives.

One of the major initiatives for which Democrats are using the funds is environmental studies.

Yes, Every Kid

“The crisis at our southern border is growing worse by the day. Thousands of illegal migrants are pouring across our border, countless tons of drugs are flooding into our nation and poisoning our citizens, and suspected terrorists are trying to sneak into our nation,” the press release said. “I am incredibly disappointed and frustrated that my Democrat colleagues refuse to acknowledge the crisis at our border and continue to undermine border security. Walls work. I will continue to fight this Administration and Democrats in Congress to ensure that the funds we approved to build the Border Wall are used to build it.”

Ultimately, both of Fleischmann’s amendments were shot down by the Democrat-controlled subcommittee.

Thanks Chuckee. After you voted for the $40 billion to Ukraine, and the bill for a vax tracking database and who knows what else you voted for I’d say you should stick a fork in it. Worthless is what you are. You and your buds Kustoff and Green need to have challengers. Wish there was one for Green.

Really?!?! Really!!! Heritage Action gives Mark a lifetime score of 96% and the Club For Growth gives him a lifetime score of 98%. Now I am sure leftists wish Green had some challengers but in fact KNOWLEDGABLE conservatives know that Mark Green is a gem and the only way he will leave his 7th District seat is to become our governor in 2026.

Funny how the ONLY time you hear from this guy doing anything is just before an election. He should have been voted out years ago. Absolutely worthless in DC and always has been. When I lived in his district I never heard peep from him until it was time for election. Of course I never voted for the man because I attended many of his meetings that he conducted during election season and he was a joke. Sorry to be so blunt but we do not need weaklings in DC.

With his Heritage-74% Fleischmann is now by far the most liberal member of the entire Tennessee Republican delegation in Congress. My concern is that if conservatives divide their vote between Andy Ogles and Beth Harwell (ACU-86%) with the result that we elect former Democrat No Record Candidate General Weathervane he will become the most liberal member of the Tennessee Republican delegation.
